1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. When you return to the site, the browser sends the cookie back, so the site can remember things like your preferences, your session, or anonymous usage statistics.
We use the word "cookies" in this policy to cover related technologies — such as local storage, pixel tags, and SDKs — that perform similar functions.
2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to make the website work, to remember your preferences, to understand at an aggregate level which content is useful, and — only where you give consent — to measure the reach of LM TEK content. We do not use cookies to identify you for advertising aimed at consumers.
3. Cookie categories
We group cookies by purpose. Strictly necessary cookies are always on; everything else is set only after you give consent through the cookie banner.
Strictly necessary
Always on
Required for the website to function - for example, remembering that the cookie banner has been answered, balancing load between servers, and maintaining basic security. These cookies cannot be turned off through the consent banner; you can still block them in your browser, but parts of the site will stop working.
Functional
Set with consent
Remember choices you make to improve the experience - for example, language preference, region, or last-viewed product. They are not used to identify you outside this website.
Analytics
Set with consent
Help us understand how visitors use the website at an aggregate level - which pages are useful, where people drop off, where the navigation could be clearer. Analytics is configured to minimise personal data, where the provider supports it.
Marketing
Set with consent
Used to measure the reach of LM TEK content and (in limited cases) to retarget visitors who have shown clear commercial intent. We do not run advertising aimed at consumers.
4. Cookies set on this site
The table below lists the cookies and similar technologies set on lmtek.com. Items marked as set with consent are only set after you accept the relevant category in the banner. Names and providers may change as we update tooling — this page is kept current.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Category | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|
lmtek_consent | lmtek.com | Stores your cookie banner choices. | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
lmtek_session | lmtek.com | Maintains the technical session while you navigate the site. | Strictly necessary | Session |
lmtek_lb | lmtek.com | Load balancing across web servers. | Strictly necessary | Session |
lmtek_locale | lmtek.com | Remembers language and region preference. | Functional | 6 months |
_ga | Analytics provider (placeholder) | Distinguishes unique visitors for aggregated analytics. | Analytics | 13 months |
_ga_* | Analytics provider (placeholder) | Persists session state for analytics property. | Analytics | 13 months |
li_at / li_rt | LinkedIn (only if consent given) | Conversion tracking for sponsored business content. | Marketing | Up to 12 months |
The "Provider" column lists who sets the cookie. Where a third party is named, the provider's own privacy notice also applies to the data they receive.
5. Your consent and how to change it
When you first visit the site, the cookie banner asks for your consent for non-essential cookies. You can accept all, reject all, or choose by category. Your choice is recorded in the lmtek_consent cookie and is honoured for 12 months or until you change it.
To change your choice, click the button at the top of this page or the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect any processing already carried out lawfully on the basis of your previous consent.
6. Browser-level controls
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, including strictly necessary cookies, through their settings. Doing so will affect how the website functions — for example, you may need to re-enter preferences each visit, and some interactive elements may not work. Browser instructions are typically found in the help section of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
7. Do Not Track
There is no industry consensus on how websites should respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We honour the consent choice you make through our banner, which gives you direct, category-level control regardless of browser-level settings.
8. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our cookie use changes, when providers change, or when the law requires it. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
